Is there an app that can boost the volume on unrooted phones? Yesterday, I installed several apps from the Play Store and found none to work. Thanks.

Nothing can boost the volume except a loudspeaker. The loudspeaker of your phone is what it is and no app can increase its output. You can use an equalizer but the output volume of your phone will be the same

FYR, Viper4Android is a one of popular sound equalizer but need root access, check it if you are interested on XDA labs
