HTC Desire 820 — No menu icon in Whatsapp

Hi
I'd appreciate help finding the menu for Whatsapp - I need to make a backup. There is no 3-line menu icon top right, just 'New' & Search (in both portait & landscape), the menu key does nothing, & a long press on the recent apps key brings up recent apps, naturally.
